(software engineering) A system responsible for managing modifications and additions to digital works, giving each revision a time-stamp and showing its difference to the previous revision.

(computing) A versioning scheme where each release is given a three-part version number of the form major.minor.patch. The major number is incremented to indicate a breaking change, minor for new non-breaking features, and patch for other non-breaking changes.

A program or application that is not feature-complete and is not usually released to the public. Developers are usually still deciding on what features the program should have at this stage of software development. This stage comes before the alpha version, and is the first software development stage given to a program.

(biblical, Christianity) An English translation, published in 1611, of the Bible from the original Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) commissioned for the Church of England, which is the version most quoted and influential in English literature and English Protestant religious culture.

(informal) An abridged, compressed, or concise version of something.
