Hawthorne effect
(historical) A group of clerical Oxford dons that tried to link the Anglican Church more closely to its Roman Catholic roots.
A phenomenon whereby a change in the behavior of a subject being studied is an effect of the change itself or the fact of being observed rather than the nature of the change in question.
(military) Half the gorge, or entrance into a bastion, taken from the angle of the flank to the centre of the bastion.
