Based on these data, a five-year filariasis control project was organized in 1972 to cover the Kinmen Islands, and a detailed report was published by FAN et al. (1974a). In the present survey, a total of 20,018 persons in 55 villages of four townships were examined, and microfilariae were found in 1,764 (8.8%); clinical manifestations were found in 282 (19.2%) of 1,470 persons examined.
