It cannot be doubted that for hundreds of years zurla and tapan ensembles have played professionally for many ethnic groups in southern Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, the Macedonian province of Greece, the Pirin region of Bulgaria (southwest), and some parts of Balkan Thrace.
