Given a history of repeated, definite attacks of hunger pain and food ease, recurring each day at the same time after meals, and relieved by food or alkalies; with intervals of normal health; the attacks gradually' increasing in severity and frequence, a positive diagnosis of duodenal ulcer should be made.
