In 1975, China was emerging from the Cultural Revolution, its government’s effort to purify and revitalize society. Communist officials had set up indoctrination programs, broadcast propaganda over omnipresent loudspeakers, and sought to stamp out any evidence of China’s ancient history.

Antiscalants inhibit scaling by one or more of the following mechanisms: threshold effect which keeps scalant ions in solution, crystal distortion by absorbing onto the crystal surface at active sites preventing further growth, and finally by dispersancy where a surface charge is added onto the crystals so that they repel one another, reducing their ability to adhere to each other and equipment surfaces, hence, they remain in solution.

In doing so, this paper makes a contribution to the history of lexicography and to the criticism of dictionaries, both primary metalexicographical concerns.

We smoke it for prestige. There are two kinds of cigaresque prestige. First, the prestige of opulence, which attends the smoking of hand-made cigars imported from Cuba or Jamaica.
